Executive Director Jake Stahl announced that Paramount Pictures has expressed interest to film portions of the upcoming Transformers: Age Of Extinction locally.
Stahl said “It is exciting to have our facilities potentially featured in a major motion picture, but the real excitement is in the economic boost this will deliver to regional businesses. “
According to Stahl, a local construction company would be working with Paramount on set development and a local restaurant would provide catering services.
In May, Phelps's Hog Heaven in Coffeyville announced that they had catered an event for the location scouts as they toured the potential location at Walter Johnson Park.
Alison Rose, Manager of Business Development at Walter Johnson Park, told KOTU news media in May that “We’ve had interest from a few major Hollywood movie studios so we worked to get ahead of the curve and put together a fee structure and policy for filming at the Park”
The film is set four years after the previous film, with Mark Walhberg in the lead role. The film is set for release on June 27, 2014.
Filming for the movie is already underway across the United States, including locations this week in Chicago.
Which sections of the Walter Johnson Park would be utilized, which actors would be in Coffeyville, and how prominent these scenes would be are not currently known.
