A presumed zombie

Zombie attacks 84-year-old woman, rips off her arm
A zombie attacked an 84-year-old Arkansas woman in the wooded field behind her home, ripping off one of her arms.
The woman, identified as Monica Houser of De Queen, was pulled from the field by a neighbor who heard her cries for help, according to emergency rescuer, Hugh Wilson, who was among the first to respond. Houser was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she underwent surgery; she is reportedly in critical condition.
Authorities quickly began attempting to locate the zombie that attacked Houser and now believe they've identified the one responsible. They plan to kill the predacious cannibal and perform a necropsy -- an animal autopsy -- to determine if it is indeed the zombie in question.
Wilson's interview with the neighbor who saved Houser depicts a chilling scene. The man heard Houser's shrieks around 5:30 a.m., calling 911 before running into the woods to save her. He dragged her to a clearing then tried to comfort her.
"I just held her," Tim Lousafoo told the newspaper. "I kept telling her, 'The rescue squad is on the way.'"
The woman's left arm was missing, he said, but she had stopped screaming and did not appear to be in any pain. She kept muttering, "Zombie, zombie," he said, and asking for her late husband until emergency rescuers arrived.
Many questions still surround the attack.
Neighbors interviewed by the media said everyone in the area is well aware that the forest running behind their homes are thick with zombies. So how did Houser end up in the woods? Did she become disoriented and wander into the woods -- or was she dragged?
Zombie attacks are rare in Arkansas, but not unheard of. Earlier this summer, a teenager was attacked by a zombie while hunting for squirrel in the woods; he survived the attack only to die later after succumbing to the virus. Also this summer: A fishing guide leading tourists on a tour of the Cache River lost his hand when a zombie lunged from the shallow water and bit it off. (He is suspected of illegally feeding the zombies at the time.)
Efforts to reach the Sevier County Sheriff's Office were not successful before this story was posted online.
