After years of faithful service and several new parts, my old mower finally quit on me last week. I went to get her out of the garage so I could mow and when I moved it, I noticed a huge puddle of oil underneath. I just refilled the oil the last time I mowed, so I knew something was seriously wrong.
After some intense investigation and manly tinkering, I determined that the crank shaft was bent which compromised the crank seal. I put it through a lot over the years and am surprised it lasted this long.
Notwithstanding, I decided to purchase a new mower. I went online and found a decent model without all the bells and whistles which seemed to have a really positive consumer review. At the same time, I bought a 120' extension cord so my electric weed eater could finally reach the far curb.
The cord showed up late yesterday afternoon so after work today, I trimmed the weeds and widened the sidewalks. Then for grins and giggles, I dug up the dirt from the curb to impede future weeds and improve storm water drainage. No sooner than I got done, the lawnmower showed up.
After opening the box and a quick assembly, I was ready to mow. I was pleased to discover the new mower was lighter, faster, more powerful, quieter and more efficient than my previous mower. But by the time I was done, I was completely worn out for the day. The back yard can wait until the weekend. I am ready for a cold beer and something to eat.
My yard looks fairly good. There's a few weird mower patterns as a result of my ever-failing vision but that can easily be blamed on the dog.

Well, time to eat, bath and go to bed. Thanks for eavesdropping on my life, creeper.
