There are a lot of semi-trucks on the road these days. It's only inevitable that they crash once in awhile. Occasionally, these accidents are quite spectacular. And every once in awhile, they are caught on video. Here are two recent examples.
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX (KLTV) - Authorities are still investigating a fiery 18-wheeler crash in Grand Prairie.
According to WFAA, surveillance cameras were rolling Saturday when an 18-wheeler crashed through the guardrails on Interstate 30 and plunged onto the President George Bush Turnpike below.
The North Texas Tollway Authority released the video that shows the semi smashing into the northbound and southbound lanes of the turnpike, narrowly missing other motorists. The vehicles slam on their brakes to avoid the wreckage as all traffic comes to a halt.
Several motorists get out of their cars and run towards the fiery crash to help, but there is little they could do. The semi's driver, 59-year-old James Anthony Long of Clarksville, TN, was killed in the crash. The cause of his death remains under investigation.
It is not clear why the truck left the highway.

GREENSBURG, Ind. -- Police say a tractor-trailer went airborne before crashing and bursting into flames on Interstate 74 in Greensburg, Ind. Thursday.
The crash happened about 1:40 p.m. when a semi lost control and catapulted into the air.
Indiana State Police said the driver, 30-year-old Ryan Young, of Kentucky, swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle that drifted into his lane.
Police said Young ran up a hill and through a guardrail before ramping off the U.S. 421 interchange.
The impact of the crash tore off the truck's fuel tanks, causing the fire.
Young suffered some minor head injuries and his 7-year-old son, who was a passenger in the semi, had a few scratches. Both were taken to Decatur County Hospital for treatment.
The amazing video was captured by a dashcam in a nearby tractor-trailer.
