WICHITA, Kan. — A Wichita man is recovering from a fight that began over frustration with a Walmart self-checkout machine.
It began around 2:30 Monday afternoon at a west Wichita Walmart when a 36-year-old man became upset and started cursing at the self-checkout machine, and a nearby customer took offense.
The two men argued until it carried out into the parking lot. Police say the situation intensified when the white man who had been originally been yelling at the machine started using racial slurs at the Hispanic man he was arguing with.
Another customer in the parking lot didn't appreciate the comments and punched the 36-year-old, knocking out one of his teeth.
When police arrived at the store in the 6100 block of West Kellogg, the injured man was still there, but the other two had already left. He was not seriously hurt. Police say there were several witnesses.
