Lori Stork, 45, of Valeda, Kansas was working at Wal-mart in Coffeyville Tuesday morning, unloading boxes of freight when a bizarre incident occurred that resulted in her being injured.
Eye-witnesses claim, she was climbing a ladder when a large chicken flew by, startling her, causing her to lose her balance and fall. Stork then landed on a steel cart which rolled several feet, striking a wall with enough force to topple her off of the cart and into a nearby sink filled with busted watermelons.
Stork was not directly injured during the fall, however, the chuckles of her co-workers infuriated her so much, she struck the wall with her fist which fractured her right wrist.
To add insult to injury, paramedics initially refused to transport her due to the foul stench of the rotten watermelons she landed on which completely saturated her clothing with a red, slushy pulp.
After a quick hosing from an outdoor faucet, Stork was finally taken to the hospital where we are told, she is recovering just fine. Her condition has been upgraded to stable and she is expected to return to work later this week.
The chicken mysteriously disappeared shortly before wildlife expert, Brian Pippin arrived to remove it. A trail of feathers led investigators to an open rotisserie oven in the stores deli department but no allegations have been made.
No explanation has been provided as to how the chicken came to be inside the store.
